Cuckoo Wrasse

LABRUS BIMACULATUS

The male is blue and red, while the female is smaller, and pink in colour, with three black spots. These fish are hermaphroditic; one of the females will become male in her fifth year and change colour to become blue. Living near rocky bottoms or in kelp ‘forests’, the cuckoo wrasse feeds on fish, molluscs and crustaceans.
